What’s New With Android?

Plus QA tests on more than 100 Android devices so naturally we want to talk about the new Android OS: Android 7.0 Nougat.
This latest version has been out for a while now, but depending on your mobile device you might not have checked it out yet.

Meanwhile, we want to share a sweet taste of this nougat with you! 🙂

What’s the promise?

To review, the Android Nougat brings new emojis, quick switching between apps, multi-window view, Vulkan API, Virtual Reality mode with Daydream, Doze mode, Custom Quick Settings, and Bundled Notifications. With Android 7.0, you can also take advantage of the Data Saver, Notification Controls, and Display Size management tools.

When will we have the new OS on our phones?

LG, Lexus, Samsung and HTC have already implemented this new version on a bunch of mobile devices.

Here is a short list:

LG : LG V20

Android: Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C (scroll down to get more info about the new Pixel phone)
Nexus: Nexus 9, Nexus Player (Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE: the Nougat versions are coming soon!)
Samsung: Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Note 7 (will get the update for Q4), S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, S7, S7 Edge
HTC: HTC 10 and HTC One A9 and One M9 (coming for Q4)
Motorola: Moto Z and Moto G4 will get the update for Q4

Let’s talk more about the new Android device: Pixel!

If you like the new Android Nougat, you will love Google’s new mobile device, Pixel.
During their last conference #madebygoogle, Google introduced two new phones named Pixel. Two different types for two different sizes. With the new Pixel and Pixel XL, Google is targeting the high level market.

These smartphones are the first to be sold with the new Android OS.
All the features present in Pixel won’t be included in Android 7.0 Nougat. For example, Google Assistant is exclusive to Pixel. This is going to be your new daily personal assistant. More robust than the current Google Now, Google Assistant is the Google answer to Siri from Apple.

Moreover, Pixel users will benefit from unlimited HD storage for Google Photos. The main camera implemented in the phone is the Sony IMX78, a high level camera with 12 megapixels.
As you can see, Pixel is the perfect phone for all avid photographers, especially because they can save tons of pictures at no cost to the user, in contrast to Apple products where storage costs money.

Both Pixel phones comes with two storage options: 32 and 128 GB. Their only differences are the height, the weight, the size of the screen, and above all, the price.
They are going to be available in the US on October 20th!

Be sure your app works with Android 7.0 Nougat and Pixel’s phone!
